A group of 4,700 dogs have been rescued from a small California town that was nearly wiped out by the exotic pet industry.
The animals were found in a house that had been burned down by the fire, and the owners have since been reunited with their pets.
A group called Dog Rescue has been in the community since the fire broke out in December, and has been helping to rescue the animals from the burning home since.
The dogs were rescued from an apartment in the town of Bakersfield, which was ravaged by the blaze, according to KABC News.
The fire destroyed the apartment complex and nearly 100 homes in the neighborhood, according the Los Angeles Times.
The group of four rescued dogs had already made the trek to a nearby animal shelter.
KABC reported that the owners were initially hesitant to let the dogs stay with them in the burning apartment, but when they realized they had no other options, they let them stay in the apartment.
The shelter said they have found a home for the animals, which include a male kangaroo, a female chinchilla, and two Labrador retrievers.
They are also currently searching for a female bobcat, a large cat that escaped from the apartment building and has since been found.
They plan to return to Bakersfields soon and begin to rehabilitate the animals.
